Abstract

Henry VIII is one of the best known monarchs in English history. A most striking fact in his life is having had six wives. In this thesis I will examine why Katherine Howard proved to be the least ideal queen and wife of Henry VIII. Being able to demonstrate this statement, I compare Katherine with the other ladies on the ground of several respects, like family background, education, pre-marital relationships, behaviour, marriage and childbearing. For this investigation I depended on historical writings, biographies and, also, original texts, such as letters or speeches.
