Abstract

This thesis examines the possible effects of introducing the European Union's single currency in Great Britain on the British economy. I will prove that Britain's joining the euro would not necessarily destabilise the country's economy. Using recent economic studies, official opinion polls and statistical data, press releases and financial experts' speeches of the Bank of England and the European Central Bank, I will give a comprehensive and introductory picture of the feasible positive effects of the single currency on the segments of the economy.
