Abstract

My thesis is about Charles Manson, who was a criminal in the United States of America in the 1960s, and about his followers, the Manson Family, who committed homicides by his command. I am going to prove that after several prison years characterized by homosexual intercourse Charles Manson began to lead a free way of lifestyle. The nomadic and promiscuous life he led attracted the disillusioned youth of the era and fulfilled their needs. The coincidence of Manson's and the young people's needs resulted in a highly cohesive group in which conformity and groupthink made the members follow their leader's order to commit homicides.
