Abstract

In my thesis I am going to address a special kind of learning difficulty, called Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). The primary aim of my thesis is to draw attention to Attention Deficit Disorder and to explain its importance. In order to make Attention Deficit Disorder easier to understand I am going to clarify the definition of this learning disability, and I am going to introduce its most common types. I will also discuss its history, its symptoms and causes. I will explain how this disorder affects students during the learning process. I would like to provide some practical help for teachers that they may use to handle students suffering from Attention Deficit Disorder. In order to provide some of these suggestions, I interviewed special education teachers who deal with children with Attention Deficit Disorder. By learning about Attention Deficit Disorder, one may better understand the problem of those students who suffer from it. Teachers, by providing greater tolerance and greater acceptance, may give these children not only a better chance to succeed in school, but also the foundations of succeeding in life.
