Abstract

This thesis examines the development of American air power before World War II. I will prove that the United States of America had not been preparing adequately in comparison with other air powers, such as Germany, Great Britain and Japan, until 1938. I will examine social, political, economic and military context of the pre-World War II period to show that American aviation was behind the times.
