Abstract

This thesis examines the foreign language learning in lower primary classes, especially in the field of grammar. I will prove that in this age grammar is not learnt consciously but acquired and stored in the brain in form of chunks. Also I will investigate the role of chunks in straightforward grammar teaching. Demonstrating different techniques and methods such as songs, stories, grammar activities and visual aids I will show that `meaning' contributes the most to successful teaching.
