Abstract

In my thesis I will support the statement according to which the use of music and songs in the process of teaching English makes the study of language seem an entertaining task for students, rather than a laborious one full of frustrations which would not have any positive effects in terms of acquring a new language. In part one I discuss the general effects of music in people's lives together with its special role in the teaching and learning process of a foreign language. In part two I describe a few techniques for using music in teaching English to young learners, and in the final part of the thesis, I describe my personal experience with using music in the classroom.
