Abstract

In my thesis I will examine whether the United States government considered its relationship with Hungary as mere propaganda, or a serious foreign policy aim in the period 1947-1956. I will also demonstrate the attitude of the United States towards the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. I would like to enter into details in connection with on of the Hungarians' immigrant organisation, the Hungarian National Council. My thesis aims at proving that in 1956 the activities of the United States government remained at the level of propaganda and did not fulfil the Hungarians' hopes.
