Abstract

In this thesis I would like to track down the trails of a movement which evolved in the U.S.A. in the 1960s among very special social, political, and cultural circumstances. This paper provides a short insight into the life of Hippies and illustrates the history of the movement seeking the evidences which can prove the long lasting impact of the movement. I would like to examine the social importance and contribution that this group has made in contemporary history and provide answers to some questions that are often asked nowadays: What has happened to this radical cultural movements of the Sixties? What did they achieve, and what, if any, is their legacy?
